YouTube Adds PayPal’s PYUSD Stablecoin as U.S. Creator Payout Option
YouTube has integrated PayPal’s PYUSD stablecoin as a payout option for U.S. creators, marking a significant step in cryptocurrency adoption by major social media platforms. The feature, launched in December 2025, allows eligible creators to receive ad revenue, memberships, and Super Chat income in PYUSD instead of traditional bank transfers.
PayPal handles the conversion of U.S. dollar payments to PYUSD on the backend, eliminating the need for YouTube to directly manage cryptocurrency. "The beauty of what we’ve built is that YouTube doesn’t have to touch crypto," said May Zabaneh, PayPal’s head of crypto. The integration required no changes to YouTube’s platform, leveraging PayPal’s existing payout infrastructure.
PYUSD, a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar, offers creators a seamless way to transact in digital assets without volatility risks. Google confirmed the feature’s availability but declined to share adoption metrics or international rollout plans.
